Looking back, although the time when she got to learn what hypothyroidism is was her age of 16, she has had the basic symptoms of hypothyroidism since her much younger age (around 10). The basic symptoms of hypothyroidism would include: swollen body parts, nights of bad quality sleep, aching body parts without any valid reasons, dizziness, unusual/unexpected changes in body temperature and others. These symptoms have always been there like a wide cloud. However, since she and her parents had considered these symptoms as 'symptoms of physically growing up' and 'symptoms of some kind of allergy', there was no chance for her to get a doctor's consultant about them. Now, at the age of 20, she recalls about her and her parents' ignorance on health, "You know, I still imagine from time to time how the world would have been seen on my eyes if I did not have these symptoms. However, when you are not in the environment that there are no urgent worries about making living and financially becoming stable, you would want to avoid even the slightest possibility of finding out that your family member has some kind of chronic illness or syndrome. Otherwise, your upcoming future would be with much more worries about finance and may not work out well as you wish. This tunnel vision of poverty - including relative poverty - has been there not only for me and my family. It has been there for almost everyone in the similar financial situations, including friends of mine whom I am still close with." Nevertheless, since there was no big physical injury such as breakdown at that time, she assumes that it was not hypothyroidism, but the hormones that take care of thyroid were not normally functioning, indicating a high possibility of experiencing thyroid issues in the future.
